William Dick was born in Glasgow, Scotland.

He studied at Glasgow School of Art, and graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, receiving a Fine Art Degree and a Post Graduate Degree, after which he continued his studies at St Martin's School of Art, London.

He has exhibited extensively in the United Kingdom and internationally, is the recipient of prestigious international awards and is represented in public and private collections in Europe, USA, Russia and the Middle East.

He presently lives and works in Edinburgh, Scotland.
